Unlocking the bootloader will erase user data and restore the device to factory defaults.
Make sure to backup your important contacts, messages, and files.
Ensure your Lava Iris 45C battery is charged to at least 50% before continuing.
1. Open 'Settings' on your Lava Iris 45C.
2. Scroll down and select 'About Phone'.
3. Tap 'Build Number' 7 times until you see the message 'You are now a developer!'.
4. Return to 'Settings' > 'Developer Options'.
5. Enable 'USB Debugging' (and 'OEM Unlocking' if present in your firmware build).
Download and install MediaTek USB VCOM / CDC drivers on your Windows PC so that your computer can recognize the phone in Fastboot and Preloader modes.
Method 1 (Hardware Keys):
1. Power off the device completely.
2. Press and hold Volume Up + Power button together until the Boot Menu displays.
3. Use Volume Up to navigate to [Fastboot Mode] and press Volume Down to select.
Method 2 (ADB Command):
Connect phone to PC with USB Debugging enabled and run:
adb reboot bootloaderOpen Command Prompt or PowerShell inside your extracted 'platform-tools' directory on PC and verify the device is detected:
fastboot devicesSend the unlock command to your Lava Iris 45C:
fastboot oem unlockA warning screen will appear on your phone asking for confirmation:
- Press Volume Up to confirm and unlock the bootloader.
- Press Volume Down if you wish to cancel.
Press Volume Up to proceed. The device will format userdata and unlock the bootloader.
Once the unlock process finishes, reboot your Lava phone by running:
fastboot reboot
